Tom's Story

Mr Tom Woods BSc (hons) MBAPO
Senior Orthotist and co-owner of Woods Orthotics

Tom, a highly skilled Orthotist, earned his degree from the University of Salford in 2013. With a strong track record, he has worked at prestigious hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, Kings College Hospital, and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

 

His expertise lies in gait analysis and orthotic prescription, aimed at enhancing function and reducing pain across a broad spectrum of conditions. Tom's dedication to education is evident through his role as a lecturer at the University of Salford, where he helped train future Prosthetists and Orthotists.

 

Tom possesses specialised knowledge in managing gait pathologies stemming from neurological conditions such as Cerebral palsy, Spina Bifida, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT), Spinal Cord Injuries, and Polio. His commitment to advancing the field is exemplified by his active membership in the Research Committee for the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO).

Ffion's Story

Mrs Ffion Woods BSc (hons) MBAPO
Senior Orthotist and co-owner of Woods Orthotics

In 2012, Ffion graduated with a 1st Class degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Salford University, launching her journey in Orthotics. Her career led her to prestigious hospitals in London, such as the Royal London Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. There, she honed her craft and specialised in crafting custom orthopaedic footwear.

Driven by a desire to be closer to family, Ffion joined the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt hospital in Gobowen, spending 7 years advancing to Senior Orthotist and excelling in the Diabetic Foot Clinic. Her expertise spans various orthotic solutions, including knee braces, insoles, spinal braces, footwear and upper limb orthoses.

Ffion's commitment extended to serving as a Clinical Audit Lead, staying abreast of advancements in her field. She's a dedicated learner, actively seeking training and staying current with research and technology.

 

Outside work, her passion for art and design now combines with her role as a mother of three, crafting imaginative costumes and toys with her children.
