Precision Gait Analysis Comes to Shropshire: Introducing Run3D at Woods Orthotics

If you walk or run with pain—or have ever wondered why your body moves the way it does—this is for you.

At Woods Orthotics, we’re proud to offer advanced 3D gait analysis and musculoskeletal testing through Run3D and Walk3D, developed by scientists at Oxford University. Using infrared Vicon cameras and specialised software, this platform takes gold-standard lab technology and places it squarely in the hands of clinicians—right here in Shropshire.

What Makes It Different?

Unlike traditional video assessments, Run3D captures the full complexity of movement:

  • Rotational and multi-planar joint motion

  • Detailed mapping at the pelvis, hip, knee, and ankle

  • Objective MSK profiling that reveals the why behind the what

It’s particularly effective for conditions such as:

  • Patellofemoral pain

  • Achilles tendinopathy

  • Hip osteoarthritis

  • Plantar fasciitis

...and many more causes of movement-related discomfort.

Why It Matters

Biomechanical issues often present subtly—but over time they can contribute to chronic pain or injury. With Run3D:

  • We identify the root cause of movement dysfunction

  • Tailor treatment plans using data-driven insights

  • Help prevent future injuries before they emerge

Whether you're recovering, training, or simply trying to move more freely, this analysis can be a game-changer.

 Collaboration and Care

Each assessment comprises a comprehensive report, a summary letter, and clinical recommendations. Our Orthotist, Tom Woods, will be present to provide orthotic advice or conduct an assessment if indicated.
